Chief Joseph B. Broughman

     Chief Broughman has 20 years of experience with the Division. His first assignment was in the patrol division. In October of 1989, he was promoted to Sergeant through the division's promotional assessment process. Through a similar process, he was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant in October of 1995.

     In 1987 Chief Broughman became the Division's first DARE (Drug Resistance Education) instructor. In the Spring of 2002, the City of Covington conducted it's fifteenth graduation Ceremony.

     Some of the areas that Chief Broughman has worked in as a member of the Division of Police, include; first supervisor of the Driver's license and sobriety checkpoints, presentation of crime prevention programs, various community board and committees, certified breathalyzer operator, and a certified member of the Division's bicycle patrol.
